池袋西口公園GLOBALRING

東京芸術劇場に隣接する池袋西口公園のリニューアル計画である。池袋西口公園はかつてIWGPと呼ばれギャングのドラマの舞台にもなったところで、夜は暗く少々治安の悪い場所であった。そこを明るく気持ちのよい劇場公園にすべく行われたコンペで勝利したものである。JR、メトロ、芸術劇場から、それぞれ行き来ができる見通しの良い公園としつつ、以前の公園の記憶を継承するために、円形の公園とした。中央には噴水があり、普段は子供たちの遊び場になるが、舞台公演の際には、椅子を並べて観劇できる平土間観客空間にもなる。最大で１０００人の大ホールとしても使える。大きなリングにはLEDが施され、噴水と連動して演出も可能で、リングを支える柱にはスピーカーが施され、舞台の生音とミックスすることができる。この劇場公園は、日常的には市民の憩いの場として、非日常ではコンサートや演劇や祭りなどの空間として利用できる。小さなサイズの行政でも、１０００人規模の劇場空間を持つことができるという、新しい試みである。

This is a renewal plan for Ikebukuro Nishiguchi Park adjacent to the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Space. Ikebukuro Nishiguchi Park was once known as IWGP and was the setting for a gangster drama, and was a dark and somewhat unsafe place at night. The park was designed as a circular park to preserve the memory of the former park, while providing a clear view from the JR, Metro, and Art Tower of Ikebukuro. A fountain in the center of the park is usually used as a playground for children, but during stage performances, it can also be used as an audience space with a flat floor where chairs can be arranged to watch the play. It can also be used as a large hall for up to 1,000 people. The large ring is decorated with LEDs and can be staged in conjunction with the fountain, and the pillars supporting the ring are equipped with speakers that can be mixed with the live sound of the stage. This theater park can be used as a place for citizens to relax on a daily basis and as a space for concerts, plays, and festivals on an extraordinary basis. This is a new experiment in which even a small-sized government can have a theater space for 1,000 people.
